A Taste of the Good Life at La Table d’Henry, Normandy

Score: 6.4

If you find yourself in Normandy looking for an authentic, no-frills dining experience among the locals, La Table d’Henry in Flottemanville is one of those places you simply have to try.

We visited on a weekday evening in May and found the entire place packed — both sections of the restaurant were completely full. And impressively, just two waitresses managed the whole room. They stayed friendly, attentive, and calm throughout, without even a hint of stress or indifference. Full credit to them!

Don’t expect trendy interiors or stylish details here. The chairs are basic, the lighting is a bit harsh, and the bathrooms could use some love. But to be fair — this is rural Normandy, and you feel that in every corner. And somehow, that’s part of its charm.

The menu is varied and, as you might expect, heavy on seafood — moules, fresh fish dishes, and scallops feature prominently. Portions are generous, and the prices pleasantly down-to-earth. The dishes are solid and satisfying, though they lack a bit of finesse. Sadly, the vegetables were overcooked — a shame, especially since the rest of the plate was well prepared.

La Table d’Henry won’t blow you away with refined cuisine, but it will win you over with its laid-back vibe, honest food, and a room full of happy locals clearly enjoying themselves. Don’t come here for fine dining — come for a warm, down-to-earth Norman evening.
