Buoni Amici in Hoofddorp: Authentic Italian Charm and Birthday Pampering
Score: 8.0
For my bonus daughter's birthday, we let her choose where to celebrate — and her choice was clear: Trattoria Buoni Amici in Hoofddorp. A place where the Italian atmosphere is just as strong as the flavours on your plate.
We gave chef Domenico free rein, with just a few subtle hints about the kind of dishes we love. What followed was an evening of pure Italian indulgence.
We started with an extensive antipasti spread: a colourful array of meats, fish, cheeses, and grilled vegetables. Every bite was spot on. Then came a surprising basil and pesto risotto. What a flavour bomb! For me personally, possibly the best risotto I've ever had — creamy, fresh, aromatic, and perfectly balanced.
Next, we suggested a selection of different meat dishes, including the birthday girl's favourite entrecôte. But the rib-eye, lamb chops, lamb tenderloin, and veal were all prepared to perfection as well. Everything came from a truly Italian kitchen, with respect for ingredients and pure, honest flavour.
Although we were practically full, we simply couldn't resist the desserts: homemade tiramisu, silky panna cotta, and an irresistible lava cake with pistachio ice cream. Dolce vita at its finest.
Once again, this evening confirmed why Buoni Amici is Hoofddorp's finest restaurant. And it raises the question: why aren't there more places in a city of over 80,000 people willing to set the bar this high? Den Burgh aside — they know their place — but beyond that, the culinary scene here remains surprisingly quiet.
Buoni Amici proves it can be done — with passion, courage, and Domenico behind the stove.
