Tante Kee on Kaageiland: Culinary Delight with Views Over the Water
Score: 8.2
Tante Kee on charming Kaageiland is one of those places where everything just clicks. Whether it's your first visit or — like me — you're a happy regular, you're always warmly welcomed, the food is fantastic, and you get to gaze out over beautiful water. Even when you're seated inside, as we were this time, you still get to enjoy those stunning views. The large windows frame the landscape like a living painting right beside your table.
The evening started strong with a trio of shared bites: the Pata Negra was butter-soft, the tempura prawns beautifully crispy with a lovely dip, and the Eveleens eel on brioche was salty, creamy, and perfectly balanced. Small dishes that immediately set the tone: these people know how flavours should come together.
We went for the weekend menu, which was thoughtfully composed with real finesse:
- Starter: fresh and elegant tuna sashimi, served with a surprising green tomato gazpacho that paired beautifully with the delicate fish.
- Second course: I had the delicious BBQ aubergine, served with a rich, smoky sauce. The ladies chose plaice — wonderfully fresh and subtly prepared.
- Main course: my partner and I enjoyed perfectly cooked lamb, accompanied by gnocchi and green asparagus in a robust jus. Our daughter had a beautiful piece of cod, with a silky texture and full flavour.
- Dessert: we finished with a beautifully arranged cheese board, while our daughter went for the fresh strawberry dessert.
What makes Tante Kee so special isn't just the food or the views — it's the complete experience. The service is professional, warm, and always attentive without being intrusive. They know their menu, think along with you, and make sure you feel genuinely welcome.
A dinner at Tante Kee is always a celebration. Whether you're there for a special occasion or just a night out, this restaurant rightfully belongs at the top. An absolute must-visit.
